The golden rule
Artificial jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. Keeping it away from moisture and chemicals is the single best way to protect the finish.
Do's
- Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear.
- Store each piece separately in a dry pouch or lined box.
- Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Put jewellery on after applying make-up, perfume, and hairspray.
Don'ts
- Avoid contact with water, sweat, perfume, and lotions.
- Don't wear it while swimming, bathing, exercising, or sleeping.
- Never use harsh chemicals, toothpaste, or abrasive cleaners.
- Avoid dropping or bending delicate pieces.
Cleaning tips
For everyday shine, a soft dry cloth is enough. For stubborn dullness, lightly buff with a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid soaking imitation jewellery in water or cleaning solutions, as this can damage the plating and any stone settings.
Storing for the long term
Place a small silica gel sachet in your jewellery box to absorb moisture, and keep pieces in airtight pouches to slow down tarnishing.
